Montessori Academy Newsletter, September 2021
This is the very first newsletter of Montessori Academy. The first day of school was September 7th, 2021. On the first day we had Emilia who just turned 3 on September 6th and Greysen who is 4. years old. We also had Tin Lang who is 2.8 years old joined us for an hour each day for his first week.
The first week we learnt to know each other and our families. Children were getting to learn the routines, schedules, and rules at school. Children learnt about the grace and courtesy, how to take care of the materials. Some of our friends learnt to roll the mat very neatly. Friendships were established very quickly. The weather was still nice and sunny so we enjoy the outside time playing slide, kitchen, playdoh and painting. “What time is it, Mr.Fox?” was introduced. We also celebrated Emilia’s 3rd birthday in the classroom.
The second week we learnt about the universe. Children worked a lot on Practical life such as pouring, basting, hammering, tweezing, and grinding. Children have been grinding coffee and eggs and we sprinkle them in the garden. Some of our friends also enjoyed working on the knobbed cylinders, brown stairs, and a little bit of puzzles. This week we added the shade curtains to help blocking rain and sun while we are having snacks outside. Spanish class on Wednesday started for the very first time, children learnt to count 1-10, open, close, farm animals.
The third week we learnt about the planets, and the galaxies. We also welcome Tyson who will turn 3 soon. This week is also a big progress for our youngest friend. Some of our friends started to work on some harder works such as binomial and trinomial cubes. This week is the first day of fall season so we learnt about colors around us. Children learnt about yellow and red made orange. We also sorted large, medium, and small leaves. We colored the leaves and pinecones. We also made playdoh together and brought them home. Bells were introduced this week. One of the highlight of this week was to have a picnic when the weather still nice.
The last week of September we learnt about the Solar system. Children learnt the songs of 8 planets in the Solar system. We celebrated Tyson’s 3rd birthday in the classroom. He got to hold the globe and walked around the Sun 3 times. We also did the science experiment on making tornado in the jar. We also did marble paintings and folding arts. The dot stickers were used to create creative arts. As it rained a lot, we added a canopy to cover the playground so children can enjoy the outdoor times.
Everyday children learnt the alphabets, numbers through works in the classrooms and outside playtimes. Snack times were one of the best time where they socialized and enjoyed the healthy food. We also add the plastic partition to protect children. Stories were read to children every day, singing and dancing were our daily fun routines. All in all we made progress through the month of September. Look forward for more fun in the month of October.
